Richard J. Ballard: Consulting, Photography and Afterhours

Copyright 2010, 2013-2024 by Richard J. Ballard -- All Rights Reserved.

I am a Saint Louis Missouri consultant specializing in small business computing, imaging, audio and security. I can be reached during the day (and during evenings in case of emergencies) at 314-776-2799 (telephone only, no voice mail). My schedule is busy but flexible.

I have a Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering; my Electrical Engineering interests grew from my ham radio activities (currently licensed as KD0AZ) during high school. My language skills are deficient: United States English and some Latin. I am a baptized Methodist -- I claim no other religious affiliation.

Media Blog

An amateur photographer since 1971, I am pursuing a second career in photography and HD video. I'll use this space to post IMO media worthwhile examples (e.g., a photograph, slideshow or video) with updates on no particular schedule:

When the money RUNS out, the fun WALKS away. Autumn leaves; what inevitably follows, and will you be
(a-hem) comfortable? Your feet will swell if you get pregnant; can you afford bigger shoes?

The mission is complete, the cash box is closed, so you loiter by the docks waiting for your ship to come in.
But how long can you tread water with that credit heavy ballast weighing you down?

Marooned? I'm not marooned; we're all in the same boat! (A three our twoer, a three our twoer)
We're one big happy family! ... Now who's gonna pay for my wasted time?

I expect the ark will be a very stuffy place with poor quality chow. You know, those shop class guys
never really learn how to cook. [Notice the buffet table at the predeparture mixer: it lacks depth and no third helpings.
That gets old fast!] Plus the end game is poorly defined: Where will you end up when the ark finally runs aground?
How will you ever afford retirement? Who ya gonna call? (sniff) Bon voyage!

All In The Family entangled Archie Bunker in liberal issues, but Archie Bunker
was a nice guy burdened with expenses: Where were Michael Stivic's parents? Where were
the Stivic family resources? Later will you desperately search for YOUR Archie Bunker?

He said we're colonials: we want quarters with free meals and housekeeping, but he's not interested in
chauffeurs with fancy rides. (Workin' for peanuts is all very fine, but I can show you a better time ...)
Then Snoopy said "There's no room at the IN; you're OUT!"

Who taught you We always win; we simply must push harder? Pushing creates
no relationship and no lasting relevance. You have no contract, you are not special, and
the best thing about repeatedly beating your forehead against a masonry wall is that
it teaches you to find the cell door and to walk away!

The money goes elsewhere while your arrogant cynicism festers; why are you angry?
I'm not the one trying to impress anybody with a rental car, a Kansas City bankroll (two $100 bills
wrapped around a large wad of $1 bills) and a Diner's Club card. Your auto motive deal paints you
into a dead end; why do you think you can come back?

Empty-pocketed scarecrows are distractions: Let's make an emergency so we can manage it!
There is no reason to flail scarecrows because nobody benefits. But who wants to invest
in somebody else's scarecrow (or other birds of passage)?

My afterhours activities are cycling, cooking and pondering unfathomable culture.

I can visualize a person reading my unfathomable culture topic list, wrinkling their nose and thinking Discussing some of these topics is not politically correct! My goal is not to offend; instead my goal is to understand. IMO understanding is good.
